Next Boys Basketball game is scheduled for today, Tuesday, Feb. 9th at Eastern Passage Education Centre. Players must organize enough drives or forfeit the game. Game time is 4PM. All players are asked to please meet in Mr. De Jong's room (104) at lunch today.
GBJH girls basketball team defeated John Martin yesterday in a close, and intense game. Great defense by all. The girls basketball game scheduled for today at OPA has been cancelled and will be rescheduled at a later date. The girls will practice on Thursday morning (Feb. 11th).
February newsletter was sent home with student last Friday, Feb. 5th. Please take note of important notices accompanying the newsletter, particularly the 2010-11 registration forms which we ask parents to please fill out and return to the school no later than Friday, Feb. 12th. Parents who have not yet received their newsletter and important attached, are asked to please double check with your child to make sure they brought it home, or you can contact the school and we'll arrange to get another copy to you. A copy of our February newsletter can also be viewed on GBJH website.
Congratulations is extended to our GBJH girls who are members of a provincial competitive Cheer Team "Cheer Extreme Fury", who took 1st place in their division during their competition over the past weekend. Also, Congratulations to the girls of teams "Rage" and "Rampage" for taking 2nd and 3rd place. Great Job Everyone!
Starting today (Tuesday), we will begin each day with a new selection of music. All of February, as part of our African Heritage month celebrations, students and staff will be enjoying some music with African roots.
The next school dance is scheduled for this Thursday, Feb. 11th. Dance sign-in sheets (OPA students only) are due day, Tuesday, Feb. 9th. (Ms. MacKay has a couple of extra dance passes to hand out this week to students demonstrating great behaviour. Students are reminded that they need to be in school on Thursday to have permission to attend the dance. If you are not in school, you cannot attend the dance.
Students and staff are to be reminded that cell phones and other electronic devices are to be turned off and put away during the day. The only time you are permitted to use these devices is at lunch.
Students are reminded to please come to school prepared ensuring that you have pencils, pens, and paper with you every day.
There will be basketball scrimmages every Monday night at 7:30PM at the ESDH gym.
IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR STUDENTS AND PARENTS: It has come to our attention that students have been playing what can be called "the Choking Game" at school, on the buses and at home. Please understand that this is very dangerous in that it kills your brain cells and could possibly kill you. If you need help with this, please talk to an adult you can trust, either at school or at home.
